Most of you know I built an XE Combo van which I turbo'd using a KKK16 and Evo5 chips.

Engine is stock XE and unknown milage and the only modification is a 2.0mm MLS headgasket as this was blown when the engine was bought
Very pleased with the results and this again proves you dont have to spend big bucks to have a fast car/van just a good amount of time during setup and making the most out of what you have....... all runs at 10 psi boost closed loop with no overboost, 10.5 AFR It also held onto the power 500 rpm higher than the other LETS tested .
Thanks for a great day everyone that went even if it was chilly and wet

Run one

273 bhp
258lbft

Run two

279 bhp
254 lbft

Run three

279 bhp
263 lbft

Now im fairly used to fast cars and its always felt alright to me Now I know why it rapes so many other cars XE FTMOOOOFW

Nice one, not just on the figure, but the shape of the curve is good too.

When we race you have to carry some concrete slabs in the back to make it fair

You just need to ditch the TB's and get hold of something that will remove the lag on your car rich!

always amazes me with this whole TB tuning.

Its this mentality: "I want to make my car faster, so Im goign to keep the lag, but try and make it a bit quicker while its lagging" PMSL

No, just get rid of the bloody lag instead!

Only reason my clio went TB's was laziness TBH, there isnt an easy turbo option available to me.

Im neither arguing nor saying anything pointless, IMHO with the FI so easy to do on a Vauxhall lump, and with it being so superior to TBs in terms of the power you can get for the sort of budget Rich has, its good advice for him to sack the bodies off and go turbo instead!

you are right from a pure power point of view but i am looking forward to getting the boddies and i think we will be able to get reasonable power anything near or over 190bhp we would be really happy with

dont get me wrong if we get to a point where we want more power then we will be going LET but after reading around and asking for advice based on current position throttle boddies seemed to be be better for our application based on our current budget.

and hopefully when we want to chnage then we will be able to sell up and pay for the let, dont know if we will be able to keep the management but if so then we will be part way to a decent let hopefully. Thumbs Up

Same situation as my clio mate. Bodies and management give good gains and you won't lose money on and should be reliable. It's going any further that starts to get expensive for not much gain.

The management you're getting will be fine for a let providing it's ordered with a 4 bar sensor. It's about 20 quid extra to do so which is cheap future proofing.

Why 4 bar? I though it was 1 negitive and 2 positive unless running more than 2 bar of boost?

the two options on the mtech are 2.5 bar or 4 bar and in both cases one bar is negative. So for over 1.5 bar of boost you need the 4 bar absolute sensor.

It's quite good that way as it if you want to spike to just over 2 bar you can.

I'm probably going to ask a really stupid question here but here goes.

If only boosting to 10psi why are the evo 5 chips needed as the stock let ecu would allow that? Is it something to do with the chips altering the ignition and injectors?
