got the grinder and welder out today to sort out the gearlinkage for shortshift
this was also a good opportunity to replace my shagged linkage bushes

got the standard linkage out and whipped out those shagged bushes

http://i120.photobucket.com/albums/o181/dangerous_dave_2006/shortshift.jpg?t=1167842690
heres the linkage with an extra 20mm added the welds are scruffy cos its freezing outside(mtech ones are 15mm longer i thought id go one better )

i used the top link bar from a cavalier as the corsa one is plastic and cant be welded
this was 30mm shorter than the corsa standard item so 50mm was added

heres the calvaier top link with the extra 50mm added in (again scruffy welds but trust me theyre solid)

after making sure all of the parts were welded nice and solid i reassembled the lot and put it back together and set the linkage

Does that make it a short shift?

Thats just what I do when doing a corsa xe conversion, didnt think it affected the throw of the gearstick at all Confused

yes it massively reduces the throw in the gearstick does not affect the swing (left to right) though so its set up using the standard method
