this sump thing seems cool, but if it works, why isnt there present on factory cars?! |
got photobucket working again but cheers anyway!
It wasn't designed in because the cars were only built for road use, were as the VXR range is much more race/track minded and have much more up to date designs etc.
There are kits on the Market but are all around the £500 mark for something simular which I think is extorsionate
I'd knock these out for £50 if supplied with a sump, as I've took a template
here's the finished article
also done a little bit of shopping
magnetic sump bolt
and ARP flywheel bolts
Also managed to get my £100 Calibra through the MOT and only cost me £40 in parts to do so, so really happy with my new motorway bomber
More importantly though is now that I've got a winter car I can get the Corsa stripped down and new engine put in and all the other mods I've got planned _________________ Custom C20LET inlet manifolds from £200, XE/LET baffled sumps £50, re-flanges, Alloy/Stainless TIG welding PM for requirements

Small update
now that the sumps all finished I fitted it back on with lots of oil resistant sealent as every XE/LET I've ever had has always leaked This one won't though i'm sure of it also double checked that the new baffle doesn't interfear with anything by having a good look through the oil level sensor hole, all was sweet so sealed that up with the blanking plate.
Also painted the flywheel end of the block, don't know why really it just looked shit not, so couldn't resist
trial fitted the new inlet manifold as well

cheers for the comments guys
I'm gonna be looking for between 400-450bhp anymore would be a bonus, all depends how good the mapping is really
currently running 20psi but will be running 26-28psi when all back together depending on my injectors as I think I'll need 750cc injectors for 450bhp
your english is good I can understand you better than some people on Migweb _________________ Custom C20LET inlet manifolds from £200, XE/LET baffled sumps £50, re-flanges, Alloy/Stainless TIG welding PM for requirements

Bit of shopping over Xmas
eccentric top mounts
and a nice polished dip stick/breather tube
wanna be getting the engine out in the next few weeks so I can get it all fitted up and the new exhaust manifold made before I splash out on management, also note to self order diff and bearings _________________ Custom C20LET inlet manifolds from £200, XE/LET baffled sumps £50, re-flanges, Alloy/Stainless TIG welding PM for requirements

Update time bought this at the weekend got it for a bargin £450 comes with a map on it already which will be useable to work off, came with a loom with omex plugs which was made for a nova turbo so shouldn't be to hard to get to fit mine
also ordered the mapping kit which should be here in a few days so I'll be able to have a better look at the map
made a start on my collector for the exhaust manifold haven't got a donkey or band saw so is a bit of a pain so will have to use grinder or plasma to cut them out here's my 5 minute mock up
also bought my cheapest mod to date off Don bargin at £2 for 4

Yes Rich you do need to get your arse in gear and stop face stroking your missus
another update I've been a busy boy today got my tie bars done, ground the shoulder down by 15mm
then the OCD kicked in so I had to strip them back
then a fresh coat of smooth hamerite to finish them off, these are now ready to swap with the ones on the car now when I take the engine out in the next couple of weeks

what did you use to make that so neat mate??
i might do a little this saturday but have been putting it off as i dont want to leave the sump off in this cold weather??
also are you still ok to sort us out with the baffled sump you did on yours?? if so let me know what how much etc?? and if you say nothing then i am getting you a crate of strongy!!!!!
need to get the altenator sorted too and then the top mounts on as well as the rear bushes. then i am going to get our setting checked to see where we are.. need to find somewhere that knows what they are on about in terms of geometary really.. not taking it to another shitty tyres place that dont really know what they are doing..
as for timescales mate, like i said if you need a final push near the end i am more than happy to come down to your work for the weekend with you and blitz some spanner work with you, even if its only for the saturday?? _________________

I just used a bench grinder and kept rotating it then cleaned it up with a file
yeah looks like you owe me a crate of strongy then for the sump
if you take your tie bars off I'll do them for you as well
to be honest I don't really have an end time now as I can't buy my diff until I get paid next so will probably take my time and get it all spot on but thanks for the offer mate
if you do take your sump off just make sure you seal the bottom off with a plastic sheet and tape it all up to stop the water getting in! _________________ Custom C20LET inlet manifolds from £200, XE/LET baffled sumps £50, re-flanges, Alloy/Stainless TIG welding PM for requirements
